Trash the Dress

So just what is Trash the Dress?

Inspired by the work of fashion and commercial photographers, a Trash the Dress shoot typically takes place after the wedding - maybe the next day, or maybe after the honeymoon.
Many take place at the beach, or at some outdoor location that is special to the couple and can often feature the bride lying on the ground, jumping from sand dunes, rolling in mud, dancing on wasteland or wading in the sea - all in her wedding dress.

Why Trash The Dress?

One reason is to dress up again and wear the dress and enjoy it! This time you don't have to worry about getting it soiled. Another reason is that TTD can make a fun day out and will add an alternative dimension to your wedding photography.
In fact it is unlikely that you will wear the dress again, and it will be put away in the wardrobe for years.
A TTD shoot gives your dress that extra value, although it may make those who paid for it squirm!

Where to Trash The Dress?

Believe it or not ugly places like industrial areas, scrap yards, derelict houses and container docks make good places for TTD shoots because they contrast with a beautiful bride. Coastal locations are a favourite in the US as pictures of the bride sitting or laying in the water are very much in vogue. If you’re a bit of a tom boy then climbing a tree in the woods or using the children’s play area in the local park can make for quirky and different shots. Then there are farmyards, fields, cattle grazing land, anywhere really. I've even seen some great pictures taken in a cemetery!

I wish to build some portfolio material in this particular area and as a result I’m willing to do a couple of TTD shoots for free, so if you're up for some fun and wish to add some more pictures to your 'wedding story' please contact me.
